Workshop: Collectivity and Ethics
More information will be added soon
This workshop is part of a continuing project that began in 2022. We are now in the second stage.
Here we are developing both in theory and practice a base for further processes and assignments for the residency program within Foreign Objekt.
Transformative Formations: Collectivity and Ethics
This part of the research will look at the collective methodologies of local political/social formations that allow transformations or alterations at the level of global structures. There are two main questions: What are the transformative powers of local formations? Moreover, what are Transformative Formations?
The transformative power of local formations, in tandem with global transformations, actually requires a construct of methodological collectivism—as opposed to methodological individualism, which presupposes a local modality of dialectic in which each local transformation accompanies the other. In a sense, today's models lack the integration between methodological collectivism, hegemony, and individual liberty.
The global structures are not capitalistic by nature. Totality is a metaphysical idea. From the totality of the monstrous global construct comes the rigid correlation between the functions of capitalism and its structural base.
Since the "correlation" determines the founding gesture for interrogation of the general or universal structure, from the last semester, we began by looking at examples of world-building in a few philosophical models with regard to the relations between non-being and being. Then, we analyzed the mathematical/logical constitution of these models (as we looked at Kant's phenomena/ noumena- island ocean model)
This semester, we are looking at a few new models, (I will introduce them later. These models will look at “Concept Engineering”, “Probability”, and “Induction”). The workshops and research will look into the relationship between mathematics and logic within these models and show that the problems with early philosophical models are still unresolved. They are shape-shifting through our scientific as well as socio-political systems. By editing at the surface level, we are falling into the trap of the liberal perspective.
This research's propositions or explanations come with the implication of moving toward more origin and abstract concepts, which are axiomatizing our worlds. This dynamic process moves in both directions–a limitropic border towards creating new worlds and possibilities while also having an infinitesimal border toward more origin concepts.
The research aims to explicate and begin assembling these possible world models and look at the trajectory and ramifications of their creation, which will be constructed by modifying and amplifying the existing philosophical models and their relations. (These models are also selected based on their ability to expand on the methodological collectives' conceptual ground).
